E-TOOL is a project that is realized within the frame of the Intelligent Energy Europe Programme of the European Commission. The project was started in January 2005 and will end by December 2006.

Short description
OBJECTIVE
The E-TOOL project will develop a simple and practical toolset, with the purpose of increase the efficiency of energy performance rating of buildings.
The E-TOOL is a tool for professionals, to identify energy savings in existing buildings, based on the actual energy consumption (operational rating), and to report the most cost effective energy saving measures to the building owner.
APPROACH
Operational rating is generally accepted as alternative or parallel method to assessment rating
The saving measures are calculated on the basis of the actual energy consumption "operational" rating and on basis of benchmarks for energy consumption for different categories of buildings.
The toolset will be tested in different European climatic zones and in different building categories.
BENEFITS
The toolset will propose energy saving measures and calculate pay-back time based on investment in saving.
